The City police have arrested a gang of thieves and seized one kilogram of gold from them.
About 14 cases were filed against the gang on charges of burglary in many houses. A six-member inter-state attention diversion gang has stolen over a kilo gram of gold ornaments in the past two years from city houses. Police said they pretend to polish jewelry and other valuables and after gaining the confidence of the victims, decamped with the valuables. Police arrested five members of the gang and seized 1.08 kg gold jewelry worth Rs 30 lakh, three bikes and five mobile phones.
Responding to a complaint from a housewife whose 11.5 tola gold jewelry was stolen by two men who claimed to be agents of a private firm. City Police started investigation and managed to nab the cheaters.
Police officials said the gang was involved in thefts in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Adilabad, Nizamabad and in parts of Maharashtra. (INN)
