Coimbatore: Some unidentified persons attempted to loot REPCO bank branch in Valparai here after severing the CCTV and alarm lines, police said.
The incident came to light when workers of a textile shop, located in a complex where the public sector bank is situated, noticed the front door open and alerted its manager, who in turn informed the police.
Police said the CCTV and alarm line were found disconnected.
The robbers, reportedly armed with a gas cutter, were unable to open the strong chest box where the cash and money were kept, they said, adding fingerprint experts have been pressed into service.
Police suspect the incident took place after the bank closed on Saturday evening.
