Road roller set ablaze, 3 beaten up by Maoists

New Delhi: Maoists set ablaze a road roller machine and assaulted three persons including two employees at Banchatra village in Naxal-infested Gomia police station of Bokaro district last night.

Superintendent of Police, Y S Ramesh told newsmen that around six naxals, flaunting firearms and in police uniform, arrived at the village late last night and assaulted three persons including two employees of the company and set ablaze a road roller machine.

Ramesh said a search operation was launched today but the ultras managed to elude so far.

The company was carrying out road construction work of 21 km road between Banchatra to Baya Kapsassthan Jharna under Gomia block.

The incident was believed to esert pressure on the contractor for payment of levy.
