Hyderabad, September 20: The old beautiful mosque of the Hyderabad city which was constructed by Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah in 1578 had been completely built by stones and mortar. It is said that the slabs of special stones were brought from Maisaram. The whole mosque is stone built. This mosque is located very near to Puranapul darwaza in which 5 times prayers are performed daily. The mosque has record in waqf gazette. But a large part of the mosque land has been encroached upon. Though the mosque is on the main road yet the land of its entrance has been occupied by a dairy farm owner. A buffalo dairy farm has been set up on the land. The dairy farm owner has left just a 5 ft road for the mosque. He claims that the land is in his possession for the last 30 years and he has the papers.
Worshipers have to say that local Muslims have their hand in preparing the papers who have influence over the waqf board and they have support from Yadav community. The parking of the mosque is also possessed by the same Yadav pahelwan hence not a single worshiper can park his motorcycle in the parking lot.
When our correspondent talked to him he talked in such a way as if the mosque has been constructed upon his land while the fact is that the mosque had been constructed 400 years ago.
