RN Yadav takes oath as 25th Governor of MP

Bhopal, September 09 (Pervez Bari): Newly appointed Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav was administered oath of office by acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Mr. Sushil Harkohli here on Thursday. He is the 25th Governor of Madhya Pradesh to take office.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at 1.15 pm at Raj Bhavan. Proceedings of the oath-taking ceremony were conducted by Chief Secretary Mr. Avani Vaish. A guard of honour was given to Governor Mr. Yadav after taking oath. Mr. Yadav also inspected the guard of honour.

Newly appointed Governor Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav’s wife Mrs. Shanti Devi Yadav, his family members, Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his wife attended the oath-taking ceremony. Leader of Opposition Mr. Ajay Singh, members of state cabinet, MPs, MLAs, State BJP president Mr. Prabhat Jha, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Mrs. Rita Bahuguna, Director General of Police Mr. S. K. Raut, High Court judges, vice-chancellors of universities, Bhopal Mayor Mrs. Krishna Gaur, representatives of various religious, political and social organisations, senior administration and police officers and journalists were also present on the occasion. Large number of people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and New Delhi also attended the ceremony.

Earlier, designated Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav arrived in Bhopal from Lucknow by government aircraft at 10 am this morning. Mr. Yadav was accorded warm welcome by the Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan, Urban Administration and Development Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur, Industries Minister Mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Narottam Mishra, Agriculture Minister Dr. Ramkrishna Kusmaria, Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Mr. Harvansh Singh, Minister of State for Civil Supplies Mr. Paras Jain, Member of Parliament Mr. Kailash Joshi, Mayor Mrs. Krishna Gaur, BJP State President Mr. Prabhat Jha and former Union Minister Mr. Arun Yadav.

On this occasion, Chief Secretary Mr. Avani Vaish, Director General of Police Mr. S.K. Raut, Narmada Valley Development Authority Vice Chairman Mr. O. P. Rawat, senior administrative officers and police officers, Secretary to Governor Mr. J. N. Malpani, Law officer Mr. C. C. Dwivedi, Vice Chancellors of Universities, eminent persons and journalists were present. The Governor Mr. Yadav reached Raj Bhavan at 10.30am in this morning.

It may be mentioned here that veteran Congress leader Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav, who hails from Azamgarh, was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh from 1977-79 as a Janata Party member. He had contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Azamgarh on the Congress ticket but lost.

Meanwhile, prior to the arrival of designated Governor of the state Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav, Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan bade farewell to the outgoing Governor Mr. Rameshwar Thakur at state hangar at 9 am this morning. The outgoing Governor left here for New Delhi.

Special Armed Force accorded guard of honour to the outgoing Governor Mr. Thakur at Raj Bhavan before leaving for state hangar this morning. On this occasion, Director General of Police Mr. S.K. Raut was present. In the morning, former union minister Mr. Suresh Pachouri and MLA Mr. Rakesh Choudhary paid a curtsey call on the outgoing Governor. (pervezbari@eth.net)
