RLY functioning will be smooth even After State Bifurcation: SCR GM

Railway Board will take care if the State was bifurcated, South Central Railway General Manager, Srivathsava said.
Talking to the media here on Monday, the SCR GM said whenever Telangana State was formed, the Railway Board will take appropriate steps to ensure smooth running of trains and give whatever assistance was sought by the government, he said.

He made it clear that movements for and against separate Telangana State neither caused any loss nor hampered Railway functioning. He said the second phase of MMTS rail works will begin soon. He also disclosed that information relating to Mumbai trains will be given to the travelers on their mobiles and also would set up helpline booths at railway stations.

The SCR General Manager inspected Secunderabad Railway Station on Monday. He was accompanied by S. K. Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager and other officials of Secunderabad Division.
During the inspection, Srivastava focused on improvement of facilities to commuters and strengthening of the security arrangements at the station. He thoroughly inspected various amenities being provided to the passengers, including catering and drinking water supply arrangements in the station. He also studied the platform utilisation pattern of the station. He also inspected working of CCTV Surveillance System, display of Reservation Charts, announcements through PA System, working of digital arrival / departure Boards, booking office, Pay & Use Toilets, etc., in the station.
Speaking to the mediapersons later, Srivastava said efforts would be made to improve the security to women passengers by requisitioning services of more number of Home Guards and by posting additional Railway Protection Force Personnel in MMTS Stations and on MMTS Trains. He said punctuality of MMTS trains has been improved a lot and a close watch would be kept to further improve the same. SCR would expand GPRS / GPS based information system on running of trains to disseminate real time information to the commuters, he added. (NSS)
