Muzaffarnagar, January 17: Pressing on the demand for bifurcation of Uttar Pradesh to create Harit Pradesh, RLD today said it will go alone in the state Assembly elections next year.
Rashtriya Lok Dal”s (RLD) national secretary Shahid Siddiqui said that party would contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls on its own supporting the issue of separate Harit Pradesh.
“Without creating a separate Harit state development in western UP would not be possible,” Siddiqui said today.
Harit Pradesh is a proposed new state of India comprising the western parts of Uttar Pradesh state.
He alleged that the Mayawati-led BSP government in the state had an anti-farmer policy.
RLD had a tie-up with the BJP in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections though the party went solo in 2007 UP Assembly polls.
