New Delhi: Welcoming the Delhi High Court’s order dismissing BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s plea in the Sunanda Puskhar death case, the Congress on Friday said no political rival now has the right to say anything against her husband and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
“The court has said nothing has been placed on record to probablise, let alone substantiate, vague and sweeping allegations made in the petition (by Swamy). So, those who levelled allegations against Tharoor should shut their mouths,” Congress Spokesperson Ajay Maken said.
“I don’t think any political rival or any other person has the right to say anything against Tharoor. The High Court has already said there is nothing in the petition and it makes vague and sweeping allegations.”
The High Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL filed by Swamy for a court-monitored special investigation team’s probe into Pushkar’s death in 2014, terming it “political interest litigation”.
A division bench of Justice S. Muralidhar and Justice I.S. Mehta said that courts should be careful to not let the judicial machinery be used by political personalities for their own purposes.
Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a five-star hotel in Delhi on January 17, 2014.
