Differences among the AP Mahila Congress groups came to the fore at the party’s headquartered office here on the occasion of the international Women’s Day today. The rival groups – one led by AP Mahila Congress President Ganga Bhavani and the other by senior leader Rajani Reddy, almost came to blows at a meeting at the Gandhi Bhavan arranged to celebrate the occasion.
The trouble started when Rajani Reddy came out of the meeting suddenly along with her supporters alleging that Ganga Bhavani had not invited her to the meeting.
Rajani’s supporters also alleged that the Mahila President was giving importance to new comers in the party and neglecting the former wilfully.
Ms. Rajani also raised objections to giving importance to one fixed group led by another member Rekha, who belonged to the erstwhile PRP, in party affairs. The two groups raised their voices against each other and almost came to blows. After intervention by senior party leaders, the situation came under control. UNI
