Rithvik from Hyderabad bags Asian chess silver medal in Singapore

a resident of Hyderabad, R Raja Rithvik, a seventh standard student of Orchids International School in Jubilee Hills here did the nation proud by winning the Under-11 Blitz silver medal in the Asian Schools Chess Championship-2015, at Nanyang Technological University Sports & Recreation Centre in Singapore on Thursday.

According to information received, Rithvik went down to Tengis Ochir from Mongolia in the final round. He had been dominating throughout the tournament but was little nervous in the title clash as a result he finished the second spot. Rithvik scored 5.5 points out of seven rounds to clinch the runners-up title. He won gold medals in Asian Chess Championships in row for the year 2013 and 2014.

Rithvik is also participating in the Classical chess format of Asian Chess tournament which will conclude on June 8. He is undergoing advanced coaching and training at Cyber Chess Academy under the mentorship of International Master Lanka Ravi
