Lucknow, April 08: Uttar Pradesh Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi could again be involved in a controversy following a statement given by her during a rally in Basti yesterday against Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and Chief Minister Mayawati.

Ms Joshi, who had to face criminal case in July last over her statement in Moradabad against Ms Mayawati, had allegedly made some ‘derogatory’ remarks on the statues of Ms Mayawati.
According to sources, the Basti district authorities are examining the video clippings of the speech of Ms Joshi and taking legal opinion on the issue.
” The District Magistrate of Basti has also rushed to the state capital following the controversial statement, a sources said.
Yesterday, during a Kisan Naujawan rally at Hariyya in Basti district, Ms Joshi, in the presence of Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pradeep Jain Aditya and party’s Legislature Party Leader Pramod Tiwari, had criticised the Mayawati government in the state. She also made some remarks on the colour of some statues.
Meanwhile, Ms Joshi clarifying the issue said she did not say anything against the Chief Minister.
” My words are being misinterpreted by the media to create a controversy,”, she claimed.
