New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor inaugurated the 8th edition of Jagran Film Festival (JFF) here today with a special retrospective on his films.
Kapoor (64) said it was for the first time in his 45- year-old career that a festival held a retrospective on his movies.
“My eight and a half films have been shown in this retrospective. Eight and a half because only one part of ‘Mera Naam Joker’ will be screened. I am humbled by this gesture,” he said at the opening ceremony of the festival.
Kapoor said the retrospective will travel to 16 cities over a course of three months.
Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also attended the festival and appreciated the power of cinema in communicating the message of cultural and social harmony, and peace.
The festival, whose inaugural film was Farhan Akhtar and Anu Kapoor-starrer “The Fakir of Venice”, will screen over 130 movies from different parts of the world.
The 2017 edition of the JFF will travel from Delhi to Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Hisar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Raipur, and culminate in Mumbai.
The festival will end on July 5.
