Hyderabad, March 14: Assuring the Indian exporters that the government was working towards increasing the country’s exports in the coming few years, Anup K. Pujari, director general of foreign trade informed that such a move would also help in bringing down the trade deficit.
He was participating in an ‘Open House’ programme organised by the Federation of Indian Exports Organisations (FIEO) where he interacted with the traders from various fields. Giving an insight into the country’s export scenario, he said “India’s exports crossed US $ 200 billion by the end of last month. We estimate it to be around US $ 225 billion by end of March and the year’s deficit should be around US $ 120 billion.” He said that about 81 out of the 85 export infrastructure projects were completed in the state.
Principal secretary of industries Busi Sam Bob said the state has 32 SEZs and that 20 more will be coming up soon. SEZs are developed to promote exports, he said.
