Rise in divorce incidents a matter of concern

Rise in divorce incidents is the outcome of deviation from religion resulting in breakdown of family unit which in turn results in degradation of society. The relation of husband and wife is eternal, hence if any dispute arises between them, the bitterness can be resolved through mutual understanding. It is general observation that most of the couples regret after giving divorce. Dowry demand is forbidden in Islam. These views were expressed by scholars and thinkers of the community while addressing a public meeting entitled ‘Dowry Harassment: Shariah and Law’ at Sana Garden Function Hall which was presided over by deputy Commissioner of Police South Zone Dr. Tarun Joshi. The meeting was organized by Hyderabad Police South Zone.

Syed Ghulam Afzal Biabani Khusro Pasha Waqf Board Chairman, Mufti Omer Abideen Madina University, Mrs. Aqueela Khamooshi, member All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Mr. Wasiuddin Farooqui advocate, Maulana Syed Mohammed Al-Husaini Sayeed Quadri, additional deputy commissioner south zone Mr. Babu Rao, Mr. Azharuddin secretary Jamat-e-Islami, Mr. Mohammed Muneeruddin Mujahid president Tahreek Khair-e-Ummat, Mr. Moinuddin president Sada-e-Haq, Mr. Syed Ali Luqman assistant Prof. Athens business school and others addressed the public meeting.

DCP south Zone Dr. Tarun Joshi revealed that majority of the complaints are received against dowry harassment and domestic violence.
