Civil Liberties Committee claimed that rioters caused destruction under police patronage. Civil Liberties Committee (CLC) team recorded the statement of riot victims by meeting them personally. During the meeting of CLC members seriously injured Syed Sikandar narrated his tragedy and told that miscreants attacked the people with swords by barging in the houses. The miscreants made the attack under complete police patronage. When he was seriously injured police addressed the attackers saying ‘Now it’s enough’.
CLC members met the victims personally. Victims told that rioters made attack under police patronage. When we came out for protest, police directly opened fire on us. In police firing, 3 people died and 6 injured. 4 injured in sword attack and 9 houses were set ablaze while 3 shops were ransacked. After meeting with the victims and recording their statements the delegation told media persons that they will meet Commissioner Police, collector and governor and would urge them to take action against erring police.
