Ring-wing activists seize truck carrying bovines, 64 booked

New Delhi: Sixty-four right-wing activists were booked for allegedly creating ruckus after impounding a truck smuggling cattle in the district, police said on Friday.

Cases against 14 named and 50 unnamed workers were registered, police said. The truck, which was illegally transporting bovines, was seized by the workers at new bridge of Hindan River near Karhera village, SHO Sihani gate police station Upender Yadav said.

The truck was carrying 15 cattle — including cows, oxen and calves, Yadav said. Enraged over the matter, the activists blocked the roads and damaged vehicles by pelting stones, he said. The three named accused — Sumit, Pintoo and Aakash — were arrested, while others are absconding, Yadav said, adding police raids are underway to nab the remaining persons involved in the case.
