Right wing group forces woman to break up with Muslim man, calls him drug supplier

Mangaluru: Member of Durga Vahini, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s women wing, pressurized a 20-year-old Hindu woman to break up her relationship with a Muslim man in Mangaluru. They also alleged that the man was a drug peddler.

Their relationship was highlighted when photographs of Priya* and Naveed* were circulated on social media.

When Durga Vahini got to know about the pictures, they somehow managed to track Priya as well as her parents for convincing them for her to break off the relationship with Naveed, reported The News Minute.

The group reportedly told Priya, in a counselling session, that Naveed had been feuding with the police. They also alleged that he was earlier arrested by the crime branch of city police for trafficking marijuana. Durga Vahini members also claimed that Priya had become addicted to the drug.

A member of Durga Vahini even claimed: “Since the guy was a drug peddler, Priya had developed a habit of consuming drugs, which lead her to be trapped in a ‘love jihad’ net.”

A video released seems to show that the woman was being pressurized by members of the organisation. While some reports suggest that Naveed was arrested for a drug peddling case, though police were not ready to confirm either of them.

“Durga Vahini members showed me what life is. I was wrong in my ways and I know now that I need the Hindu dharma,” said Priya in a video published by News9 on Thursday.
