New Delhi: A rickshaw-puller died after he was allegedly hit by a speeding mini bus at west Delhi’s Mayapuri area during the wee hours today.
The deceased was identified as Dharampal (40), native of a village in UP’s Badayun district, said police.
The speeding bus allegedly hit Dharampal while trying to overtake his rickshaw, after which the errant driver, later identified as one Praveen, fled the scene, said police.
Dharampal was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, they said.
He was a widower, who lived with his brother and 10-year-old son at Keshopur Mandi area in west Delhi, said police.
The accused was later identified with the help of CCTV grabs and input provided by eye witnesses. The errant driver, booked for rash driving and causing death by negligence, was also arrested, police added.
