RGI officials arrested man with aluminium-plated gold wires

A Malayi passenger was arrested at the RGI airport for allegedly drawing a veil over gold by converting it into thin wires, and plating the wires with aluminium.

Abdul Rahman, the passenger, who came from Dubai, had been noticed by the Customs officials. They found that he replaced the normal steel wires on the edges of his trolley bag with gold wires weighing 400 grams.

According to the officials, “Abdul Rahiman came by Emirates flight EK $24 from Dubai in the morning. While scanning his bag, some bright wires were spotted. When we checked them manually, we found that he had replaced the steel wires on the edges of the bag with aluminium-plated gold wires.”

They said that the gold was worth around Rs.12 lakh. Abdul Rahman is a native of Kasargod district of Kerala.
