RGI Airport Custom Officials seize 1.9 Kilogram of Gold Bars from a passenger

The RGI Airport Custom Officials at Shamshabad Airport has 1.9 Kilograms of Gold Bars from passenger. The total value of seized goods is expected to be Rs. 50 Lakhs

Based on intelligent profiling, the officers of Customs Air Intelligence Unit,B-Batch, RGIA, Hyderabad, at about 03.00 Hrs. on March 20, 2014 intercepted a passenger by name Kannur Abdul khader Mohammed Haneefa, who was arrived to RGIA, Shamshabad by Qatar Airways flight No. QR 500. On questioning by the officers, about possession of any dutiable /prohibited goods, the passenger denied and replied in negative. However, after detailed examination, the officers recovered 1.9 Kilograms of Gold Bars from a hand bag which was not put to scan by the passenger. The total value of seized goods is expected to be Rs. 50 Lakhs. The passenger was interrogated and he admitted the offence. Further follow-up investigation is going on.

The entire operation was done under the guidance of R. Manohar, IRS, Additional Commissioner, E.V.N Reddy, Deputy Commissioner. R.Kalyan, Assistant Commissioner has supervised the operation. N.S. Ramakrishna Rao, Air Customs Superintendent of Air Intelligence Unit effected the seizure. Shaik Hussain (ACS), and M. Pratap Reddy, Air Customs Officers and P. Ravikumar, Sepoy assisted in the said operation. (INN)
