Minority Welfare Department conducted a meeting to review the implementation of Qazi Act 1880 and necessary amendments in the Act as per the current scenario. Besides legal experts, scholars, mashaikh, former high officials, representatives of social bodies and representatives of Qazis participated in the meeting.
The meeting called by Special Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel was also attended by Minority Welfare Commissioner Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal, Managing Director Minority Finance Corporation, Prof. S A Shukoor, Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board M A Hameed, Mufti Azeemuddin Head Mufti Jamia Nizamia, Maulana Syed Qubool Pasha Quadri Shuttari, Maulana Husamuddin and others.
Detailed discussion was held on amendment in Qazi Act and on the issue of recruitment and powers of Qazis. After getting suggestions on all matters it was decided to convene another meeting shortly in which decisions will be taken in the light of suggestions.
