Chairman of Press Council of India, Justice Katju told that a committee has been constituted to review the issues facing the small and medium newspapers.
Mr. Gurender Singh, President of All Indian Small and Medium Newspapers’ Federation and a member of Press Council of India would be its Chairman.
This committee would review the problems faced by Small and Medium Newspapers and offer its recommendations.
Justice Katju told Mr. Gurender Singh to nominate persons from the media to the said committee and submit suggestions soon. He would contact Govt. of India on the basis of these recommendations. He made this announcement while addressing a meeting of the A.P. Unit of the Federation. Mr. Gurender Singh requested Justice Katju to represent the demands of Small and Medium Newspapers to the Govt. to resolve these issues. He told that it is not possible to get loans from banks and therefore, it has become impossible to publish small newspapers.
Reacting to the appeal made by Mr. Gurender Singh, Justice Katju made announcement for the constitution of a committee.
