Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday said that District Collectors have been directed to ensure that all the petitions received during Revenue Sadassulu were disposed off within three months.
Making a statement on the floor of the State Legislative Assembly, the minister informed that by March 21 this year, Revenue Sadassulu were been conducted in 12,118 Revenue villages. He said as many as 6,989 Village Revenue Officers’ Offices have been inaugurated by identifying suitable government buildings or room in government building. As many as 3,49,512 petitions have been received, 92,622 petitions approved, 4,858 petitions rejected and 2,52,032 petitions are under process, he said.
Raghuveera Reddy claimed that the Revenue Sadassulu was started in 2012 to solve the land-related problems of farmers at their doorsteps, especially small and marginal farmers belonging to weaker sections. He during Revenue Sadasssulu held in 2012, a total of 6,92,822 petitions were received and 6,86,014 or almost 99 per cent have been disposed so far. This year, the programme was launched by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on March 12 in Mandipally village of Mahaboobnagar district. The programme is being held from March 12 to April 10, covering about 28,000 Revenue villages in districts.
The minister said that Gram Sabhas were being conducted in localities with pre-dominant SC/ST population or inhabitated by poor. Prior to launching of programme, State and District level convergence meetings have been held with political parties. NGOs working on land issues and officials. Ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs and other public representatives/dignitaries have been invited to participate in Revenue Sadassulu.
Reaction to Minister’s statement, TDP MLA Motkupalli Narasimhulu described the programme as a total failure. He urged the governemnt to take stern against those who encroached the lands belonging to SC, ST and Backward Classses.
Srikanth Reddy of YSRCP accused the Revenue Minister of misleading the House by furnishing inflated figures. CPI’s G Mallesh said that the government was not serious about plugging the loopholes in the system.
MLAs including T Nageshwara Rao (TDP), Ramesh (TRS), Srinivas Reddy (BJP), J Ranga Reddy (CPM) and Dr Jay Prakash Narayan (Lok Satta) also took part int he discussion. (INN)
