Revenue dept. has key role in protection and restoration of Waqf lands

Special Officer Waqf Board Mr. Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal (IPS) called on Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Wednesday and congratulated him on getting the honour of being the first Muslim deputy chief minister of Telangana state. Mr. Mahmood Ali has the port folio of revenue department which is importance for the government. Highlighting the role of revenue department in protection and restoration of Waqf properties in Telangana, Special Officer Waqf Board submitted a detailed report to the deputy chief minister in which he suggested government’s support to ensure protection of Waqf properties and proposed measures. He asserted that revenue department has important role in protection and restoration of Waqf properties and as deputy chief minister Mr. Mahmood Ali can bind district administration of 10 districts. He cited various cases in which due to non- cooperation of revenue department Waqf Board faced difficulties in restoring the lands.

On the occasion Deputy Chief Minister reiterated government’s stand and said that Waqf properties would be protected at any cost and strict action will be taken against illegal occupants.
