Kodangal TDP MLA and principal accused in the infamous “Note-for-Vote” scam case Revanth Reddy today demanded that the TRS government release well behaved live convicts on Independence Day.
In an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Revanth Reddy said the State government should think on humanitarian grounds and release life convicts who repented for their crime and have good track record after their conviction of life imprisonment.
The Telangana TDP leader reminded that the TRS had promised to release life convicts, who have good record during their imprisonment. But after coming to power, the TRS government has not taken any action in this regard, he said. Most of the life convicts are poor people and their incarceration for a long time would deprive their children from education. Most of the prisoners expressed repentance for their crime and wanted to live a peaceful life with their families, he said. He urged the State government to take a decision on release of such prisoners on August 15. (NSS)
