Revanth urges CM not to support BJP Presidential candidate

Union government’s hurriedly announced demonetization of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s unilateral support to the Centre on the GST have caused severe hardship to the people, said TDP-TS working president A Revanth Reddy today.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, the TTD-TS leader said the farmers were groaning under financial stringency with the banks having no cash and they were spending hours at the banks leaving their work in the fields. On account of GST effective July 1, agricultural implements, fertilizers, seed and essential items used by the middle class sections would be costlier leaving burden on the State economy, he claimed.

Stating that the government has totally ignored their complaint that the GST would cause huge losses to the people and the government, TTDP leader pointed out to the statement of Finance Minister Etela Rajendar that the State government would lose Rs 3,000 crore on account of GST. Meanwhile, IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao said the State would have to pay Rs 20,000 crore to the Centre in the form of taxes every year. He demanded that the State government raise these issues in the last meeting on GST in Parliament tomorrow and boycott the meeting if necessary and withdraw support to the BJP’s Presidential candidate in the election.
