Revanth Reddy gets 12-hour interim bail

The Special Court for ACB Cases on Wednesday granted interim bail for 12 hours to TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy who was arrested in ‘Cash for Vote’ case.

The court granted interim bail from 6 AM to 6 PM on Thursday to Revanth Reddy to attend his daughter’s engagement ceremony.

Earlier, the ACB court heard the arguments from both sides on Revanth Reddy’s bail petition. While the Public Prosecutor argued that granting bail to the TDP MLA as this stage might affect the case, Revanth Reddy’s lawyer Siddharth Lothra contended that bail should be granted in view of his daughter’s engagement on Thursday. The ACB’s Special Public Prosecutor did not object to grant of one-day interim bail to Revanth Reddy. However, he feared that the MLA might try to influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidences if granted regular bail.

After hearing the arguments, Special Court judge Laxmipati granted 12-hour conditional interim bail to Revanth Reddy, who is presently lodged in Cherlapally Central Prison. He has been restricted from speaking to media or meeting political personalities during the bail period. (INN)
