Revanth defends not contest Palair by-polls

Telangana TDP Working President A. Revanth Reddy has strongly defended party’s decision of not contesting the by-elections to Palair Assembly segment in Khammam district.

Speaking to media persons here, Revanth Reddy said that the TDP had withdrawn from the contest and decided to support Congress nominee Sucharitha Reddy, the widow of late MLA Ramreddy Venkatreddy, to maintain the tradition of unanimous election of any member of the family in case of death of sitting MLA. He said there were several precedents wherein unanimous elections were ensured. However, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao broke the tradition.

Revanth Reddy said that the TDP believes in morals and ethics. Contrary to this, he alleged that the TRS never believed in ethics or morals. TRS took the support of BJP to win MLC elections in 2011. Later, it sought help from MIM. He said KCR keeps changing his colours depending upon the situations.

The TDP leader asked as to why Tummala Nageshwara Rao, who is already a MLC and Minister, was pushed in the fray in Palair by-polls. (INN)
