Telangana TDP Working President A. Revanth Reddy on Monday approached the Hyderabad High Court seeking stoppage of water supply to liquor companies.
In his Public Interest Litigation (PIL), Revanth Reddy alleged that the authorities were providing unlimited water to the liquor companies while neglecting the fact that there was no adequate drinking water for citizens of Hyderabad. He also alleged that the consumption of liquor was ruining the lives of hundreds of poor families. He sought the High Court’s intervention to stop supply of water to liquor manufacturing companies.
Accepting the petition for hearing, the High Court has served notices to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) asking them to file their counter within three weeks. (INN)
