Sydney: After taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Twenty20 series, India will aim to stamp their authority and claim a series whitewash over Australia when they step on to the field for the third and final match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.
The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side registered their first ever T20 bilateral series win in Australia after defeating the hosts by 27 runs in Melbourne on Friday. And, the inconsequential final match would be the perfect way for India to leave Australia after a disappointing ODI series.
India named an unchanged squad for the first two T20s and are likely to go through the series with the similar squad.
All-rounder Shane Watson has been confirmed to lead Australia in the dead-rubber in Sydney after T20 captain Aaron Finch injured his hamstring during the loss in Melbourne.
The hosts will be without the services of Steven Smith, David Warner, John Hastings, Kane Richardson or Matthew Wade, who flew to New Zealand for the ODI series beginning on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Usman Khawaja was called in to replace injured Finch with Travis Head also vying for the same spot. Pace merchant Shaun Tait is also likely to feature in the playing XI following the absence of Hastings and Richardson. (ANI)
