Restrictions on internet services and movement in J&K during Independence Day

Srinagar: Restrictions on the movement of people were put in Srinagar city especially in the areas connecting to Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium where Governor Sinha unfurled the National Flag on 15th of August.

Security was beefed up in entire valley on the eve of 15th August. Restrictions were imposed in many parts of Srinagar City to avoid law and order situation.

Meanwhile, authorities suspended mobile internet service for several hours in the valley, but broadband services remain unaffected. 

The suspension of services was applicable to all service providers, including state-run BSNL in the valley. The service was suspended around 6 am and restored around noon.
