Restrictions imposed in Srinagar to maintain law and order, exclusive pictures

Srinagar: Restrictions are imposed in the old city to maintain law and order on Friday In the wake of the Jamaat-e-Islami being declared “unlawful association” and union cabinet decision on Article 35A.

Senior separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also put under house arrest and Jamia Masjid has also been closed for Friday prayers in Srinagar City.

The restrictions precautionary in nature were also imposed in south Kashmir’s Anantnag town.

The speed of both Mobile and fixed broadband Internet services have been brought down and transport is seen off the roads.

The union cabinet on Thursday recommended amendments to Article 35A to extend the benefit of promotion to in-service Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates and extend 10 per cent reservations to economically backward classes.
