Voluntary organizations will have a key role in the development of new Telangana state and to convey the welfare schemes of government to the people. These views were expressed by Prof. Hara Gopal during his address at Telangana Resource Centre’s 124th convention entitled “Role of Civil Society in Telangana state”.
Maulana Hamed Mohammed president MPJ, social activist Jivan Kumar, Prof. Suriya Pally Sujata, Mr. D Narsimha Reddy and others also expressed their views. Prof. Hara Gopal further said that intervention into the powers given to Civil Society and any attempt to stop civil societies’ efforts against discrepancy and injustice will be termed undemocratic. He told that Telangana is full of natural resources and investors have been using the natural resources of Telangana for their personal gains. Now that Telangana state has been formed the responsibilities of Civil society multiply especially with regard to preservation of natural resources heritage, restoration of water reservoirs, provision of basic facilities to common citizens etc.
