Resignation only way out to realise Telangana: KCR

Hyderabad, January 18: Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekar Rao, MP, today said that pressing for acceptance of resignations by parliamentarians and legislators from Telangana region cutting across partylines, was the only way out to realise the long-cherished goal of statehood for Telangana.

Addressing the pro Telangana activists at Indira Park, the venue for relay fast by members of the Telangana Joint Action Committee on the second day of the protest, he said ”the countdown has started.

All people representatives across the political spectrum should put in their papers and get ready for pressing their acceptance on January 29, if the Centre does not come out with a clearcut announcement.”

As differences cropped up among ruling Congress Parliamentarians and legislators in the region on the issue, Mr Rao said ”only the Telangana people are the high command for all people representatives from Telangana. Fulfilling their aspirations all should be prepared to quit their posts.” Senior Congress leader and former Minister R Damodar Reddy warned of ”serious repurcussions” if the Centre did not come out with an announcement of specific time schedule by January 28.

He pressed for boycott of those Congress leaders, who had proposed a ”peace rally” in Hyderabad at a time when ”peace is prevailing in Telangana.” Ch Muthyam Reddy, who took part in the relay fast today, insisted on creating a ”Constitutional crisis” by pressing for acceptance of their resignations on January 29 as decided by the JAC, even while continuing lobbying in New Delhi to hasten the process of formation of Telangana state.

However, Congress MPs Sarve Satyanarayana and V Hanumantha Rao maintained that only President’s rule would be imposed in the event of any ”Constitutional crisis.” This would in no way help in realising separate Telangana state, they added.
