Hyderabad, July 14: Senior Congress leader and MLA Shankar Rao on Tuesday challenged YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to resign from his seat and contest again without invoking the Congress party or the Nehru-Gandhi family’s name.
Talking to media persons, the senior MLA said that not only Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, but also all the Congress leaders in the country won because of their affiliation to the Congress party. He said that he was willing to resign from his seat if Mr Jaganmohan Reddy wins without the backing of the party.
Mr Shankar also raised the issue of the involvement in illegal mining activities by the YSR family members.
He alleged that the son-in-law of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Brother Anil was earning hundreds of crores of rupees from illegal mining activities in Telangana region.
Mr Shankar Rao said that he will soon present proof of Brother Anil’s involvement.
Brother Anil is the owner of Rakshana Steels Limited, a company which has gaining rights to mine for ore in Telangana.
