Residential block on police lockdown

Sydney, October 12: A Residential block was put on lockdown last night as police searched for a suspect in Sydney’s south.

Residents of the building in George Street, Waterloo, were told by officers to stay in their properties during the two hour manhunt which began at 7pm (AEDT).

“It was believed the suspect may have been somewhere in the building,” a police spokeswoman said.

The suspect was not present and the search ended about two hours later.”

The reason the man was wanted by police has not been disclosed but the spokeswoman said he is not on published wanted lists
