President Telangana Jagruti Mrs. Kavita Kalvakuntala declared reservations to every community proportionate to their population inevitable to bring justice to backward classes in separate Telangana state. She said that by exploiting Dalits and Muslims the Andhrite leaders in united Andhra not only succeeded in dividing the said communities but also made things difficult for Dalit and Muslims. She claimed that Muslim employees were 25 to 30 pc before formation of united Andhra but on the basis of knowledge of Telugu they were shrunk to less than 1 pc by Andhra leaders. She said Telangana Muslims had to suffer maximum losses because of United Andhra Pradesh. Injustice towards Muslims can only be recompensed by giving reservations to Muslims in all fields proportionate to their population. Majority of Muslim youth are deprived of employment despite getting education till graduation.
Mrs. Kavita also defended to bring Muslim women into national mainstream which she said will require a road map. To eliminate educational backwardness among Muslims she suggested encouraging Muslim women and girls to pursue education.
Mrs. Kavita asserted that the inferiority complex prevailing among Urdu speaking community can be eliminated by giving Urdu language the status of second official language. Along with the Telangana traditional festivals Muslims’ festival should also be celebrated officially. It would be the responsibility of political party which comes to power in Telangana state, to call a meeting of Muslim intellectuals to take stock of the problems faced by Muslims and to prepare a strategy to resolve those issues.
