Srinivas, former APCC President, Mr. Mohammed Ahmedullah, Minister for Minorities Welfare Govt. of A.P., Mr. D. Manikya Vara Prasad, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbeer, former Minister, Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, General Secretary, APCC, Mr. Mohammed Ayyub Khan, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Ghani, Dr. M.A. Ansari, Mr. Syed Yousuf Hashimi, Secretaries of State Congress Committee, Mr. Meer Hadi Ali, Mr. Khaleequr Rahman, Mr. Khaja Khaleelulllah, Mr. Syed Shaukath Saleem, Mr. Mohammed Meraj Khan and others.

The Minorities convention passed resolutions demanding the Govt. to constitute cabinet sub-committee for Minorities, allocate sub-plan, reservations for Muslims in local bodies and to allocate Rs. 1200 crore budget for Minorities.

Mr. Krishnamurthy said that these resolutions are legitimate demands. He advised Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to implement them. He also asked the organizers to submit these resolutions to Ms. Sonia Gandhi in the form of a report of the Minorities convention.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbeer told that there is no danger to 4% reservation provided by A.P. State Govt. to Minorities.

Regarding the failure of 4.5% Central reservation, he said that action should be taken against the officials responsible for sending Assistant Solicitor General of India to A.P. High Court for pursuing this case. He had no knowledge of the case. Govt. of India should have sent Attorney General of India to A.P. High Court.

Mr. Shabbeer further told that there are reservations in local bodies. He stressed the need for the Govt. to allocate Rs. 1200 crore budget for Minorities and also carve out a sub-plan from the normal budget as is being done for S.Cs, S.Ts, and B.C.’s. Minorities budget in TDP Govt. was only Rs. 36 crore which has now been increased to Rs. 489 crore. Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu had completely forgotten the Minorities during TDP rule.

He told that reservation given to the Muslims is not the work of a single individual. It was given on the basis of representations from Minorities.

Mr. Mohammed Sirajuddin, told that by providing 4% reservation to Minorities, Govt. has not done a favour. It has given the legitimate right to the Muslims. He said that whenever Muslims supported a party, it came into power, when they withdrew their support, it lost power. During 9 years of TDP rule, Mr. Naidu was giving false hopes to Minorities. Now he is shedding crocodile tears for the Muslims. He said that Congress is working for the welfare of the Muslims but much has to be done.

Nearly 8 lakh students are being benefited by fees reimbursement and scholarship schemes. He also demanded the Govt. to pay salaries to Imams and Muazzins of the Mosques. Mr. Mohammed Ahmedullah told that the Chief Minister is busy with presidential election. He has asked him to attend the convention as his representative and to communicate its resolutions to party and the Govt. He said that he is making representations for sub-plan and for allocating more money for Minorities in the state budget. He told that C.M. has extended 4% reservations to Muslims for another ten years.

Mr. Syed Yousuf Quraishi, fomer Chairman, Minorities Commission requested to extend the date of registration of scholarship.
