Advocating for 12 percent reservations to Muslims in Telangana, in order to stop injustices to Muslims, president POWT and member JAC steering committee Mrs. Sandhya said Muslims were largely affected by formation of united Andhra Pradesh. Declaring Telangana agitation as the war to free Jal (water), Jungle (forest) and Zameen (land), from the clutches of Andhrite leaders and investors, she said by encroaching upon lakhs of acres of Waqf land, Andhrite investors left no stone unturned to make things difficult for Telangana Muslims.
Mrs. Sandhya asserted before the formation of united state the percentage of Muslims employees in government departments was 40 which has shrunk to less than 1 pc now. To achieve the goal of Telangana agitation, review of SC, ST, BC and Muslim predominant areas is necessary.
Provision of democratic rights to all backward classes including Muslims is quite essential. Declaring the old city as the symbol of Hyderabad city she maintained that Andhrite rulers tried hard to destroy the culture and civilization of historic city of Hyderabad. They didn’t take concrete measures to protect ancient culture and civilization of Hyderabad. She termed restoration of cultural heritage of old city of Hyderabad crucial with the formation of Telangana state.
