Rescue Team Begins Tasks in Indonesia

Jakarta, October 05: Unhampered by heavy rains, members of the UAE Rescue Team started operations at 10 locations in the quake-shattered Indonesian island of Sumatra and recovered several bodies from under the rubble.

Lt-Col. Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, deputy director of Emergency and Safety, Abu Dhabi Police, said, “Under the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Rescue Team has established coordination with the UN office and other international teams. The team’s members demonstrated extraordinary skills and efficiency in dealing with round-the-clock emergency situations.”

The team is equipped with latest devices for rescue and recovery.
