Washington: US’ Republican Party today slammed Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s bid to engage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, alleging that she was reaching out to this small but influential community just for political fund raising.
A day after Clinton launched a campaign to engage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the Republican National Committee (RNC), in a memo, said, “Despite their hypocritical rhetoric, Clinton and the Democrats have consistently done little to actually support AAPIs. Election year pandering is not enough.”
AAPI stands for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities including Indian Americans.
“While the RNC has for years (has) been focused on engaging our nation’s growing AAPI communities, Hillary Clinton’s recent AAPI interests are for her own political fundraising benefit,” alleged Ninio Fetalvo, RNC AAPI press secretary.
“The reality is Democrats have long taken the AAPI community for granted, and Hillary Clinton will be no different as she continues to support the same failed policies that hurt AAPIs across the country,” Fetalvo said.
The RNC memo alleged that despite a “history of hollow rhetoric”, Clinton and Democrats continue to push policies that hurt all, particularly AAPI communities.
“Democrats fail to ensure that policies to address AAPI priorities are actually implemented. What have they really done to gain our vote in the upcoming election?” it said.
“When it comes to the most important issues for the AAPI community — healthcare, national security, education, immigration and jobs and the economy — Democrat policies harm, rather than benefit us. This is unacceptable,” the RNC memo said.
Clinton supports this failed liberal Obama agenda, it said.
The memo alleged that as the chief architect of the Obama Administration’s foreign policy, Clinton has put US at risk.
“From her continued support of President Obama’s failed ISIS strategy to support for bringing Guantanamo Bay terrorists to our backyards, it’s clear a Clinton presidency would endanger our national security. AAPIs want a commander-in-chief who can protect our families from the rising, imminent threats of radical Islamic terrorism,” the memo said.
According to the memo, failed Democrat policies stand in the way of AAPI entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Democrats want to increase taxes and implement more burdensome regulations, it alleged.
“In ObamaCare alone, there are 18 new taxes or tax hikes on families and small businesses already overwhelmed by oppressive regulation. Instead of working to grow their businesses, AAPIs are forced to deal with arbitrary and unnecessary taxes and costs,” it added.
