At the Cultural Palace in the diplomatic quarters of Riyadh, the 71st Republic Day celebrations marked the strengthening of an age-old bond between India and Saudi Arabia.
In his welcome address Ambassador Ausaf Sayeed commented that the growing bilateral ties between the countries have become more multi-faceted, mutually-beneficial and strategic. He made a special mention of the “Strategic Partnership Council” agreement signed between the two countries during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the Kingdom in October 2019.
Over 600 members of the Indian diaspora along with the diplomatic corps and Saudi dignitaries. attended this annual event.
Besides customary unfurling of the national flag by the Ambassador, there were cultural performances, arts exhibitions, and an address and Chief Guest, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar Al-Saud.
Republic Day was also celebrated by the Consulate in Jeddah and the Indian community within the Eastern Provinces.
