Before the merger of Andhra Telangana Muslim ratio in government departments of Hyderabad state was more than 20 pc. But in united Andhra Pradesh state Muslim employees of State Government were ousted from their job on the basis of their lack of knowledge of English language. Today Muslims in government department are just 4 pc. President Telangana Gazetted Officers Association and TJAC Steering Committee member Mr. Devi Prasad expressed these views while advocating reservations to Muslims in all fields of life. He said that on one hand Muslims were deprived of government job on the basis of their lack of knowledge of English while the vacant posts were filled by Andhrites on the basis of their knowledge of Telugu.
He asserted that Urdu and Telugu were given equal status during Asif Jahi period but prejudice against Urdu started in the domination of Andhrite leaders and employees. By depriving Urdu knowing people government jobs their economy was also undermined.
He informed that after bifurcation of Andhra 540000 employees will be needed in government departments to run the state administration smoothly and in Telangana immediate recruitment of 2.5 lakh employees is inevitable in which Muslims should get 12 pc reservation proportionate to their population.
