Representation for Muslim reservation disappointing in NCBC public hearing

A 3-day public hearing was held by National Commission for backward classes in Hyderabad to review inclusion of various communities/castes in the list of backward classes. Representation to include Muslims in central BC category was unsatisfactory and disappointing. No one from Telangana government represented in favour of Muslim reservation although TRS government had promised to provide 12 pc reservations to Muslims.

Hearing for the 14 Muslim communities under BC (E) category was scheduled on the last day of the public hearing. Representations were invited for the 14 Muslim communities who were provided reservations on the basis of their social, economic and educational backwardness so that their inclusion in the Central BC list can be reviewed. However Muslim parties, organisations and institutions who campaigned for reservations showed unresponsiveness during the public hearing of inclusion of Muslims in the BC list. Effective representation was not made before the commission while some organisations presented only written memorandum.
