Reports revealed! Iphone8 supplies limited at launch

Expected to launch three iPhone models this year—iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.

Upcoming Apple iPhone model,

“iPhone 8”

, supply will be limited in quantity at the time of launch due to poor yield rates of OLED panels at assembly plant, reported DigitTimes.

According to the report, Samsung Display unit, which is the sole supplier of OLED panels to Apple for the flagship iPhone has promised to ready at least 3-4 million OLED-panels, far less than the ordered 70 million, for the device before its launch event slated for September.

Analysts had earlier predicted that the iPhone 8 would be available in limited quantities after the September launch as it is difficult to produce OLED-panels in larger numbers. “Judging from the current supply of OLED panels, it will be difficult for Apple to ship up to 50-60 million OLED-based new iPhones in 2017, a person familiar with the matter told DigiTimes.

Apple is expected to launch three iPhone models this year—iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. However, only the iPhone 8 models are said to sport the OLED panels, while the other two will adopt LCD display.
