Civil Society organizations of Hyderabad met on 12th April and constituted a fact finding team to find out the truth about communal riots which erupted in Hyderabad a few days ago. It consisted of Mr. Jeevan Kumar (HRF) Mr. Syed Bilal (HRF), Ms. Udesh Rani and Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hakeem (ICAN) Mr. B. Rama Krishnana Raju (NAPM) Mrs. Noor Jehan (COVA) and Mr. Syed Mazher Hussain (COVA).
The team toured the riot affected areas of Madannapet, Kurmaguda, and Sayeedabad. They met Hindus and Muslims of the area, local corporators and police officials. They found out the facts about the communal riots. The members of the team arrived at the conclusion that despite communal tension, people of both the communities maintained communal harmony and cultivated good relations. There were incidents of the members of a particular community saving the victims of the other community. Despite inciting and provocative incidents in places of worship, both the communities maintained balance and restored peace.
