State Election Commissioner Ramakanth Reddy here on Tuesday announced that re-polling will be held in seven MPTC seats in Seemandhra and Telangana regions on May 18.
Announcing this to mediapersons, Ramkanth Reddy said re-polling will be held on May 18 in Thoorpu Erraballi, Mannamvaripalli, Pottipalli MPTCs in Nellore district, Yelluru 1 and 2 MPTC seats in Kollapur mandal of Mahbubnagar district, Bandapalli and Mailaram MPTC seats in Nizamabad district.
Ramakanth Reddy said full results of MPTC, ZPTCs are expected to be declared between 9 pm and 11 pm tonight. He said some 1,500 ballots in three boxes under Kondapuram ZPTC in Nellore district were irreparably damaged due to moths. However, the counting of votes was taken up keeping aside the affected 1,500 ballots and if the majority of the victorious candidate was less than 1,500 votes, repolling will be held again, he added. He also disclosed that soaked ballots in four boxes in Nidadavolu mandal were dried up in the sun in the presence of all candidates and counting of votes was taken up. (NSS)
