Hyderabad, May 10: Repolling in number 108 polling station in Bellamandi due to technical error in the Electronic Voting Machin with 905 voters in Kadapa town will be held on May 11 and the plea for the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress to hold repoll in 139 stations for alleged rigging would be decided by the ECI, according to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal.
Mr Bhanwar Lal told media persons at the Secretariat that the repoll will be held at JMJ Junior College for girls, Kadapa.
He also disclosed that the Kadapa Lok Sabha by-election recorded 77 per cent voting while Pulivendula Assembly constituency recorded 83 per cent voting, which is five percent over 2009 elections for both the seats.
Mr Bhanwar Lal said that there is no justification for re-poll except the cited polling booth as the polling was peaceful. He also thanked the media had sent for its cooperation and said that the overall report has been sent to the ECI.
The CEO also said that the official observers also received no complaints from any quarters. The security was prioritized and the counting will take place on May 13. Mr Bhanwar Lal added that till the counting of votes take place, all EVMs have been kept in the strong room with vigil from CCTV cameras and two CRPF forces in position around.
In all, 120 tables would be kept for counting at the college, the CEO revealed.
One micro observer G Phaniraj Pavan, Badvel, working as steno in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, died of heart attack and the district Collector has recommended Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia for sanction from the government, Mr Bhanwar Lal revealed.
No liquor sales have been reported and the cash seized so far had been left to the investigation by the DG (Investigations) Income Tax Department, he further revealed.
So far no proof has been established by the said DG over the cash seized, said Mr Bhanwar Lal.
He also informed that in all 72 Congress men, 76 TDP men and 93 YSR Congress men have been arrested apart from 7 others.
