Repair of Makkah Masjid ablution tank delayed, musallis facing inconvenience

Due to extraordinary and unnecessary delay in repair of Makkah Masjid ablution tank, the musallis coming here to perform prayer are facing inconvenience for the past 4 months. It must be recalled that the cistern got damaged in the bomb blast at the mosque in 2007. Though the local MLA showing personal interest had announced to repair the cistern within a month but the work has not yet begun even after 4 months.

With the installation of a temporary tap the masjid administration was satisfied that the musallis are facing no difficulty. But musallis have to say that due to more number of musallis arriving for prayer the water pressure remains low. Moreover the large number of tourists visiting the historical masjid daily are getting bad image of the Masjid. A pungent stench emanating from the north-east corner is making them wince the moment they step into the premises.

According to sources a fund of Rs 8 lakh had been issued for the reconstruction and repair of the ablution tank but the repair work is unnecessarily delayed.
