Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today directed state officials to ensure there are no “pothole-free” roads even during rainy season.
“The department (Roads and Buildings) should become more responsive to peoples’ complaints and take steps immediately to repair all bad roads in the state. You cannot neglect people’s complaints. You have to respond immediately,” a state government release quoted him as saying in a review meeting with officials here.
Observing that monitoring quality of roads should be a priority, he said the department should establish a research wing to study the best technologies and practices in the world for implementation. “If faulty road contractors are there, blacklist them,” he said.
The department should take historical data and analyse the wear and tear of the road and also be able to predict when to re-lay the roads based on their analysis of soil condition, rains and traffic, he said.
“My aim is to have world-class roads in Andhra Pradesh. Every village should be connected with BT road and every village should have cement roads in the state,” Naidu said.
Naidu suggested that all National Highways in the state should be linked to ports.
“These links with ports will boost port-led development to enable Andhra Pradesh to become a logistics hub,” he said.
